Brynda owns an adorable and inspiring local shop. She stocks quality vintage and new clothing and accessories, in a tightly edited, inspiring shop called The Hidden Closet, located in Fountain Square Mall.
I met her at a garage sale and she told me to stop by sometime. Which I clearly did and loved her sweet feminine style and quirky retro vibe!
Brynda isn't a mom herself, but feels very strongly that women should be confident and embrace thier bodies instead of being critical of the shape they have. She says, "Wear it with confidence, and no one will question it!"
She love the forties, western style, fine quality vintage and gardening. She says she doesn't really think about what to wear each day, but she has a few short cuts up her sleeve! She has a great "museum closet" which she has selectively stocked for decades. And she wears mostly dresses, so she can just grab one, accessorize, and go! Her look is flowy and feminine.
Also apparent, she has a strict idea of what works on her and doesn't waste time trying things that don't. Like jeans, which I can tell you are the most time consuming item I buy. But retro dresses, bold accessories, and her Jambas shoes and little ankle socks? Yes please!
Growing up in a farming family, there weren't a lot of opportunities to dress up. When she was 15, she found a funeral dress in her grandma's cedar chest. She coveted that dress for years. When she was in college, her grandma sent her a box of cookies, with the dress' jacket in the package too. That dress was the beginning of her passion for vintage.
Brynda loves to work in her garden and finds a lot of inspiration there. She enjoys planting things, and also seeing where things end up. She feels that, while she doesn't consider herself an artist, she thinks of fabrics and plants as her canvas. She loves the textures and fine details of both.
Stop in and check out her little slice of paradise. And tell her hi, from me!
